Doing Business in India: A Challenge or Opportunities

Despite faltering after the great recession of 2008 and sustaining a GDP growth rate of 0.6 percent for over a decade, Ireland has been ranked at the top in the list of the “Best Countries for Business” recently released by Forbes.  Ironically, India—the country which has an average GDP growth rate of over 6% for over a decade— is ranked 98th among 145 nations graded by Forbes. Similarly, China has been ranked 94th among 145 nations; despite that fact that the country has maintained a consistent annual GDP growth rate of 9.2 percent since 1989. Other BRICS nations such as Brazil and Russia have been ranked at 80th and 91st positions respectively in the list of “Best Countries for Business.”  Therefore, it becomes pertinent to ask: Why despite performing so well in the near past and much better than many developed nations, India has been ranked so low in the list?

Why Do Indian Universities Lag Behind in Research & Innovation?

Again, none of the Indian universities could make it to the top 200 universities of the world. In the World University Ranking 2013-14 released by The Times Higher Education, California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California topped the list with overall score of 93 followed by the University of Oxford, Harvard University and Stanford University. Peking University, China is ranked 1 from the BRICS and emerging economies. But there is some relief for India in this category. Panjab University, Chandigarh is ranked no. 13 among universities in emerging economies, thanks to its (Panjab University) sustained focus on research which has given it an edge over the IITs in the Ranking. The World University Ranking—based on 13 performance indicators grouped in five categories, namely, teaching learning environment; research volume and reputation; research influence—clearly indicates the deplorable condition of research in Indian universities. But have we ever given a serious thought on why do Indian universities perform so poorly on global university rankings? Where do Indian universities lag behind— in research, or in academic infrastructure or in teaching-learning methodology?

Tech Rise India - Science and Technology

We've engineered a world in which pivotal elements profoundly build upon science and technology. WE have also made it in such a way that most of the users are not fully acquainted with it.  This is a prescription for calamity. We might distant ourselves for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of disregard and power will come in terms with us.

Science and Technology is a boon or a curse is a question which prevails and palpitates in millions of our mind.   Rise in globalization on one hand made our ventures facile on the other handicaps the human exhort of toil.

Think Women

She reached Moon, She ran the country. Sometimes she compromised and sometimes she conquered. Sadly, this glory has never be valued. Prejudiced against girls and women in the developing world is an annihilating reality. It results in thousands  of individual tragedies, which accumulate  to adrift potential for entire countries. Studies delineates there is a direct link between a country's attitude toward women and its growth socially and economically. if a women suffers, it will lead a whole society suffer. Tragically, girls are most defenseless against the trauma of gender discrimination. The following obstacles are stark examples of what girls’ worldwide face. The better news is that new generations of girls articulates source of change for female in theworld today.

Dreams and Opportunities

May the sunlight today shower the darkness with its glimmering beam
And make the enmeshed opportunities clear to me
They say the world is a rising star
Alas, I grope for the rudiments of glow.

The value of this mere term “Opportunity” can only be discerned by an individual who had always dreamt about it but never practiced it.  Hard work is much more important than talent and opportunities are even more.

In this blind race with the west we eschewed the rudiments of our forte and denounce all the possibilities of rise. There are many talents which are deprived of education due to the dearth of finance or lack of understanding.

Glory Bubble

The shack echoed with a cheerful clamour and claps when Sachin guided the last ball out of the boundary. For him it was just another victory, but for the people there it became a reason to unfasten their shirts button and fly it making a wreath of contentment.

A sweet sillage and drop of water from his torn out roof plunged into his eyes brought him a new morning. Sachin, woke up with the reminiscences of the last night Indian victory and his favorite cricketer Sachin Tendulkar one more century.  Sachin, lives in a small slum-house nearby Nizammudin railway station in Delhi. Every morning while rinsing his body with cold water he sings the latest Hindi movies songs. He goes to school with his friends who adore him as much they respect  Sachin Tendulakar.

Continuing Education

There is certain bliss when a housewife travels through the pages of her child’s notebook, an epiphany of a lost self and the chance of continuing learning pricks her heart.

Learning should commence at birth and cease only at death.  On one hand a man wants to complete his PhD and on the other side a woman’s education is barricaded after she completes her schooling. It is said that if you educate a man; you educate a man but if you educate a women; you educate the whole generation.  The disparities in gender, class, community also lead to illiteracy. A woman in the traditional Indian structure is kept in the pedestal of goddess and made to define the family’s pride. But the reverence of this goddess has eroded to something more along the lines of “Raise My Children” and “why isn’t my breakfast ready?”  The lack of knowledge in women makes them incoherent to the decisions which revolve around her family and affect her life too.
