Continuing Education

There is certain bliss when a housewife travels through the pages of her child’s notebook, an epiphany of a lost self and the chance of continuing learning pricks her heart.

Learning should commence at birth and cease only at death.  On one hand a man wants to complete his PhD and on the other side a woman’s education is barricaded after she completes her schooling. It is said that if you educate a man; you educate a man but if you educate a women; you educate the whole generation.  The disparities in gender, class, community also lead to illiteracy. A woman in the traditional Indian structure is kept in the pedestal of goddess and made to define the family’s pride. But the reverence of this goddess has eroded to something more along the lines of “Raise My Children” and “why isn’t my breakfast ready?”  The lack of knowledge in women makes them incoherent to the decisions which revolve around her family and affect her life too.

Here, I take my flight
To the land of my dreams
And I am a withered feather
Surging like a soundless talk
Travelling in the early morning sunlight
And, dancing in the glade of stars
I travel! I learn! I grow!

The idea of continuing education brought the slurred hope back to women and people who could not complete the education due to infelicitous circumstances. Continuing education makes the uneducated learn while increasing the literacy rate of the nation. Not only to the uneducated masses but continuing education also helps the employees to enhance their key skills.

You can never learn everything; there will be something left unlearned. In the current predicament where the post graduation degree becomes a necessity, continuing education helps employees to enhance their key skills while securing their position or job in an unsteady economy. Most employers encourage continuing education in order to sustain a highly skilled or specialized workforce.  As an employee, continuing education provides empowerment in the job market or additional employee value on the job.  The convenience of the Internet and online education has eased the burden of attending classes by allowing students to attend classes at home and at their own convenience.

Vinay rai mentions in his book “Think India” that not all continuing education classes are designed for the professional corporate worker like continuing legal.  Many classes and training programs are geared to trades-people who want to gain additional knowledge in their chosen career field, or gain a license in order to start their own business.  To attain happiness and sustain a graceful life, it is essential that one is confident about himself. Continuing education can bring this confidence to you.
